Bersama tadah air, bersama makan tanah (which translates literally as “together, we hold water, together we eat earth”) is looks at reclaimed areas in Singapore.Examining notions of kinship to the sea, the land and the porosity of home (tanah air) that is beyond nations, borders and histories, rather one which is embodied in spirit. ila merg childhood photographs of herself and her family at the beach against the city's seascapes taken on film that was soaked in seawater. These seascapes were taken at the same reclaimed beaches she had frequented growing up.
